A friend of mine asked for some Podcast recommendations recently so I thought it would make for a fun little blog post. I LOVE Podcasts and listen to them (in addition to audio books here and there) Monday-Friday on my commute to and from work and occasionally during nap time when I’m getting some cleaning done. I want to share some of my favorite Podcasts with you all. I love true crime so a lot of these are based around that then some at the end are motivational/feel good ones that I love too!
My Favorite Podcast’s
True Crime:
Up & Vanished – This one about a girl Tara who went missing back in 2005. The Podcast is hosted by a guy name Payne and he does such a good job investigating and going over every little detail. While this Podcast was airing, new details of the case emerged so if you don’t like spoilers, don’t google too much just yet! All episodes are available so go binge this immediately!
Dirty John – this one isn’t so much about murder, it’s more about deception, lies and some crazy twists I didn’t see coming. From their website: “Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors without Borders. But her family doesn’t like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival”. I listened to this one every chance I got. I heard they are turning it into a TV Show that will air on Bravo and I can’t wait to see that!
Dr. Death – This is a podcast done by the same people who produced Dirty John. I just finished listening to this one. It’s about a neurosurgeon that had a lot of botched surgeries and it digs deeper into each patient, what happened and goes further into the doctors past. It’s one you wouldn’t believe, and is a must listen! Its eye opening to hear about the things that went on and how our medical system failed so many of these patients and didn’t step in when there were clear signs things were wrong with this doctor and his skills. It’s chilling to say the least.
My Favorite Murder – This one is a comedy Podcast about true crime. I laugh when they joke on the Podcast about what others must think of their show if you don’t really know what you’re getting yourself into because it’s true. It’s probably hard to wrap your head around a comedy podcast that talks about murder but it’s really good. Georgia and Karin are hilarious. I love how open they are open about their lives and hearing their own personal stories they share and the comedy part comes in tasteful ways. They don’t make jokes about people getting killed or dying. They are basically into true crime and started this podcast where they tell people about different murders every week. Karin and Georgia each take turns talking about a murder and all the details and most times they go off on random tangents but I love that! I find myself laughing all the time and honestly, I’ve cried a couple times during the real raw moments where they share their life struggles. Also, they do a mini episode each week where they tell peoples hometown murders/ghost stories etc. that they write in and share. Those are a fun listen too!
Feel Good & Inspirational:
Risen Motherhood – This is a good one for all mamas! On the show they discuss relevant topics to everyday motherhood through the lens of the gospel. From potty training or cooking dinner, to miscarriage or PPD. Each episode is relatively short so they are good quick listens and so worth the time it takes to listen!
The Goal Digger Podcast – I LOVE this one!! It’s so inspirational and motivating. She talks all about chasing your dreams and has all kinds of amazing episodes that cover various topics such as SEO for blogs, Instagram algorithm, how to start a podcast, secrets to success etc. It’s great one for creative entrepreneurs.
GirlBoss Radio – This is another inspiring and motivating one! I love ALL of her interviews. There are many great episodes so be sure to go back in the archives and listen to them all. There are so many gems within these conversations with these smart and successful women! A little blurb online says this about it – “On each episode of the Girlboss Radio, Sophia interviews boundary-pushing women who’ve made their mark—eschewing polite conversation and extracting solid advice from the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Expect hilarious co-hosts and vulnerable, honest conversations you won’t hear anywhere else.”
The RISE Podcast by Rachel Hollis – If you haven’t read her book Girl Wash Your Face, you soooo should. I may do a review on it and my take away from it if anyone is interested?! Let me know! The book is life changing, and I’m not even being dramatic. It’s a must! Rachel’s Podcast is just as amazing. She also interviews some amazing people and does a lot of solo Podcasts talking about all sorts of topics. It’s just as inspiring as her book. You should definitely check this one out 🙂
I have several more I listen to periodically but these are the favorites. I don’t listen to all of these all day every day. Up and Vanished, Dirty John, and Dr. Death are all one season and range in amount of episodes but once you’re done with the “season”, that’s it! So my regular rotation is My Favorite Murder, Risen, Goal Digger, Girl Boss, and RISE. I thought I would explain that for anyone not familiar with Podcasts 😉
I hope you all enjoyed this post! I would love to hear what your favorite Podcasts are. I’m always looking for new ones to check out. Also, what kind of content do you enjoy seeing from me? I want to be sure I’m putting things out that YOU like to read or in the case of YouTube, watch. I have some videos I’m working on editing right now and will get back to regular posting by the weekend. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram. I post most frequently on there! Thanks for sticking with me through my journey of figuring this entire thing out! You all are the best.
