This is a post I wanted to hit publish on back in December. December! Wow. So much has happened in the last couple months. Life has been so crazy for us. Between sicknesses, family situations, and everyday life just being plain crazy, i haven’t had a moment to myself. Some of that crazy isn’t changing anytime soon so I decided I am done making excuses and I am ready to take back control of my life.
I wanted to originally share my “New Years resolutions” and now that it’s March i figured I would refer to it as goals & intentions. I’ll be sharing my goals & intentions for the next three months. Come May, I will share June – August etc.
March – May Goals & Intentions
Practice more yoga – I took yoga for the first time in 2016 at the Tone It Up retreat in Miami. I was always interested in taking yoga but never did. Once I got home from the retreat I was hooked and practiced weekly in my living room. Not too long after that, I found out i was pregnant with Callie. I was too afraid to do anything once I knew I was pregnant (traumatized from past loss 💔) so I stopped everything at once. Anyway, I want to get back to it. I have myself signed up for some classes at a local studio and I will practice at home as well. I’m super excited about this one!
Clean eating / more plant based – shew. This is probably on everyone’s lists but I really need to get my eating habits in check. I’ve been out of control lately! I want to eat more clean and explore eating more plant based. I’m not sure I could be 100% vegetarian or vegan but I am very curious about that lifestyle so I would like to explore it and not rule it out either way.
Simplify our life – have you guys ready Emily Ley’s book ‘A Simplified Life’?! So. Good. I am not completely finished just yet but I am hooked. She has me inspired to really simply our life. I want to de clutter our home, and quiet down all the “noise” around us! I want to spend more time enjoying the people and things around me and less time stressing about mess, clutter, and chaos.
Less social media, more time with loved ones – this is pretty self explanatory. Facebook and Instagram can really suck me in and I’m so tired of it! I don’t hate social media per say but I could use a step back. I find myself just mindlessly scrolling during Callie’s nap time and before I know it, I’ve been scrolling forever and got nothing accomplished. It’s a vicious cycle.
Develop a self care /self love routine – I do feel this goes hand in hand with a couple other things on this list. Working out, meditating, yoga, etc. For the past year I’ve done really nothing for myself and the few things I have done are just that, a few! I want to put myself first and really focus on myself. You can’t pour from an empty cup and if I’m not my best “me”, I’m no good to anyone and I want to be an energized, refresh, and happy wife and mama.
Workout more often (original, I know) – Again, another goal that is probably a goal for most but the theme here is I’ve really been neglecting myself so I’m excited to get back into the swing of things with working. I was hesitant to do too much because when I tried to get into a good workout routine, it affect my supply! I told myself that the first year of breastfeeding was all about Callie and doing what I needed to for her to benefit from mamas milk the first year. We are less than 10 days away from her 1st birthday so its time to finally get back into working out regularly!
Meditate more – I’ve done some meditation lately and I’m obsessed. It truly relaxes me and it feels good to visualize my goals/intentions daily. I feel so good after I meditate.
Learn more about meditation, yoga, and crystals – I have a few books on crystals, and some crystals I purchased over the last couple years. This is something else I got away from once I got pregnant so I’m excited to dive back into it as well!
Read one book – I have one sitting on my kindle waiting for me! An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. A friend posted about it on Facebook and had nothing but good things to say so I can’t wait to get reading it!!
That may seem like a lot but not having done much for me this last year, my list is long! I have lots I want to accomplish this year and I’m really excited about it!
I will check in next month and update on how this is going!
What are your goals for the next few months?!
