I love Christmas. It is hands down my favorite holiday. I love to decorate and warm up the house with the glow of the Christmas tree. I love spending time with family doing all the fun holiday related activities and I can’t wait to share all of these moments with Corey and Callie this year as it is Callie’s first Christmas. I thought it would be fun to share our Christmas traditions and I would love to hear what you all do with your family.
Our Christmas Traditions –
Pick out or cut down a real tree
Go see Santa and get a picture!
Bake Christmas cookies
Build a gingerbread house
Christmas activity such as going to a festival of lights – we won’t be doing that this year since Callie is still so little but next year it’s on!
Christmas Advent Calendar – this is another we won’t be doing this year as Callie is still so little (and we could have, just chose not to this year!) but this won’t be a traditional chocolate advent calendar though those are amazing too. I actually saw a really cute and fun idea a couple years ago that has stuck with me since. I can’t wait to recreate it next year for Callie and in the years to come!
Open a present on Christmas Eve which will consist of pajamas, ornament, and a book.
Christmas movies ALL.THE.TIME. and especially Polar Express, Rudolph, the Grinch (original & newer one), Elf, Charlie Brown Christmas and Christmas Vacation (for the adults only 😉 ) just to name a few!
Read the Night before Christmas on Christmas Eve
Leave out milk and cookies for Santa and reindeer mix for all of the reindeer 🙂
On Christmas day we will be home as a family to enjoy the day and possibly not get out of our pajamas all day. Our home will be open in much of an “open house” style for family to visit if they choose but we decided long ago that when we had kids we didn’t want to run the roads on Christmas. We will have our doors open to family on Christmas and for those who can’t make it, we will have a get together the weekend before or after Christmas with everyone.
Those are our traditions! What are traditions you all have in your family for Christmas?
